folks,
Have
you been here since we have been refurbishing? No? Ok, then let us fill you in
on what has been going on since we took over the boring, stuffy old “Parkway
House Country Hotel”, (To some still known as the Green Headlands). It
has been transformed from those days and is now a bright, cheery and welcoming
place to come and enjoy. We hope that this newsletter will inform you that the
“Hotel” atmosphere has gone, we know that local customers trying out the
Parkway have had a major surprise. We are
not as is widely thought an hotel only for functions and conferences, we are
open to everybody and offer a wide range of food, entertainment and exceptional
hospitality. Our bar is modern and open to all and our prices are always keen!
The
Food:
A
great choice of freshly cooked meals all at very affordable prices. These range
from bar snacks starting at £1.95 through to our huge mixed grills at only £12.95.
We also have a comprehensive children’s menu and a daily specials board.
We
already have a well-known reputation for our fabulous Sunday carvery. At the
Parkway we are extremely proud of the selection of 4 local meats and the huge
selection of fresh vegetables including, cauliflower cheese, mushroom and cream
sauce, plus all of the seasonal vegetables delivered freshly from our local farm
suppliers. The Yorkshire puddings are homemade too!
You
will taste the difference, as it is the same as if it were cooked at home, and
all for only £7.50 and £4.50 for children, it is great value for the money.
The only problem with it is that you will want to sleep for the rest of the
afternoon!! It is however advisable to book ahead, as we do get very busy. In
the New Year we are starting the carvery on Wednesday evenings.
People
now travel from as far as Exeter, Honiton and Taunton just for our carvery, food
and our great entertainment.
The
Bar:
This has changed dramatically, now with light wood flooring right the way
through, gone are the old, tired and taped carpets!!
Sky and
Setanta have been installed and are presented throughout with a large screen in
the music room for those all-important games. Also brand new is our sports room
with sky, league pool table and darts, it adjoins the bar so you can order your
drinks without stopping your game! We also have a very large heated smoking
area. We are looking for teams for both the pool and darts leagues, if you are
interested please give us a call.
On Friday and Saturday nights we have music and karaoke. (Our regulars say that
our sound system is the best around!)
Sunday night is our very popular open mic/jam session, this is great for
everyone who wants to have a go, singing, or playing. We have some extremely
talented regular musicians that love to see and assist new faces and to be able
to try out different ideas and music.
From
January we are adding live bands to our calendar, we are currently in contact
with various bands to kick off our music schedule. If you know of, or if you are
in a band or would like to see a specific band please let us know and come in
and chat. Keep an eye on our website for updates.
We
also of course have accommodation, 10 bedrooms all En-Suite should you decide to
want to stay longer.
We have a large garden with growing amenities, currently we have a large
trampoline, basket ball area and kiddies toys etc, we are adding to these in the
New Year. We are extremely children friendly and also are great dog lovers, so
don’t worry about bringing your pooch with you, the only exception is of
course in the restaurant.
We
would love you to come in and see us, we are sure that you will enjoy the
atmosphere and friendliness that the New Parkway Inn has to offer.
